In order to accelerate the launch of the Qingdao Institute of Cognitive Artificial Intelligence (hereinafter referred to as "the Institute"), the preparatory meeting of Qingdao Institute of Cognitive Artificial Intelligence was held in Qingdao from January 7 to 8. Relevant leaders of Qingdao Municipality and key members of the preparatory group including Wang Meng, Ma Ai, Zhang Chenggang, Xiao Weibin, and Sun Xiao of the Institute attended the event.

On January 7, Xue Qingguo, Deputy Mayor of Qingdao, Lv Peng, Director of Qingdao Science and Technology Bureau, Zhao Yan, Secretary of Shinan District, and other relevant municipal leaders received Wang Meng, Ma Ai, Zhang Chenggang, Xiao Weibin, Sun Xiao, and other staff of the Institute, and gave full recognition to the Institute's technology development and transformation strength in the field of cognitive AI.

On January 8, the preparatory meeting of the Institute was held in Block 11 A of Qingdao Software Park (the premises of the Institute). Wu Xuyong, Deputy Director of Qingdao Science and Technology Bureau, Cao Zhen, Deputy Head of Shinan District, Liu Haibo, Director of District Science and Technology Bureau etc., and the main members of the Institute attended the preparatory meeting. President Xiao Weibin presided over the preparatory meeting and introduced the overall development plan of the Institute and the key work in the next phase; Professor Ma Ai, Professor Zhang Chenggang, Professor Sun Xiao and President Xiao Weibin introduced the situation of their units and made suggestions on the future development of the Institute respectively on behalf of the co-construction units of the Professional Committee of Legal Psychology of Chinese Psychological Association, the Institute of Social Governance and Development of Tsinghua University, the Institute of Affective Computing and System Structure of Hefei University of Technology, and Shandong International iTOT Service Center (iTOT, Integrated Transfer of Technology); President Wang Meng, the first proposed president of the Institute, introduced the general trend of the development of cognitive AI intelligence and suggested that the establishment of Qingdao Institute of Cognitive Artificial Intelligence was just at the right time; relevant leaders of Qingdao Science and Technology Bureau and Shinan District said that the Institute's technical R&D strength is leading, and the launch in Shinan District of Qingdao is "at the right time, in the right place and with the right people" and they will actively provide support for the continuous development of the Institute.

Cognitive AI is cutting-edge science that integrates brain neurology, psychology, and computer science other than information technology only and it is the orientation of the next generation of AI development. The technology/results exported by the Institute can be widely used for the detection, screening, and intervention of autism, Alzheimer's disease, depression, youth learning ability improvement, happiness index, etc. to promote the creation of emerging industries and empower traditional industries.

Jointly established by the Legal Psychology Professional Committee of Chinese Psychological Association, the Institute of Social Governance and Development of Tsinghua University, the Key Laboratory of Emotional Computing and Advanced Intelligent Machine (Institute of Affective Computing and System Structure of Hefei University of Technology), and Shandong International iTOT Service Center, the Institute focuses on the basic theory research of cognitive AI, engineering technology research and development, and achievement transformation, and is a new R&D institution providing cognitive AI supply and achievement transformation.
